How to apply

 

 

The NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities offers a wide range of PhD Programmes in several scientific areas, for those who wish to continue their academic career and to dedicate themselves to research.

Applications 2014/2015

The applicants to the PhD Programmes of NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities must have a master degree or a legal equivalent condition.

The applications are made online (the link is available only during the period of applications).

The documents that applicants with a master degree or with a legal equivalent condition have to submit are the following:

- Photocopy of an identification document;

- Photocopy of the Fiscal Number Card (if not included in the identification document);

- Certification of the master degree or legal equivalent;

- CV with academic, scientific and professional information;

- Brief description of the scientific interests.

The applicants to the PhD programme of Digital Media need also to submit a portfolio.

If you are a holder of an undergraduate degree, with a particularly relevant academic or scientific curriculum, that is recognized by the Scientific Council of NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities attesting the capacity to do a PhD programme, the documents to submit are the following:

- Photocopy of an identification document;

- Photocopy of the Fiscal Number Card (if not included in the identification document);

- CV with academic, scientific and professional information;

- Brief description of the scientific interests.

The applicants to the PhD programme of Digital Media need also to submit a portfolio.

Payments

Each application has a cost of 51 euros and, if you prefer to pay with money or cheque, the payment can be made by ATM at the Doctorate Section (ID Building, floor 1) or at the Bursary Section (Tower B, floor 1),

Tuition Fees

The amount of the overall tuition fee* is usually of 4 800€ for a total of 8 semesters, which include the frequency of the Doctorate Course (two semesters), besides the preparation of the doctoral thesis.

The payment of the tuition fees can be made in accordance with the following payment conditions:

- Full payment in the act of enrolment guarantees a discount of 10%;

- 600 € in the beginning of each semester;

- 4 instalment of 150€ by semester (from September to December and from March to June), during the 8 semesters of the course duration.

* The reading of this information does not exempt from consultation of the tuition fees regulation in force in the respective academic year.

Regulation of Tuition Fees of PhD Programmes

 

Accreditation

A student can require the validation of competences acquired in the completion of a higher education degree, technological specialization course, training after high school studies or professional certified training, or even through professional experience for the purpose of completion of studies or frequency of studies at NOVA School of Social Sciences and Humanities.

The process of accreditation results in a certain number of credits, which will exempt the student of acquiring the same number of credits foreseen in the curricular structure of the elected course.

The students must submit the following documents:

Accreditation Request Form

In the case of the studies were held in another Faculty or University, you should also submit:

- Certification of course units held in ECTS credits;

- Duly certified programmes of course units held.

The accreditation request is subject to the payment of a fee, which is annually updated.
