Pedro Manuel Rouxinol Samina Coelho was born in 1966 in Montemor-o-Novo. He is Assistant Professor at NOVA FCSH and Senior Investigative Reporter at SIC TV. He has a PhD in Media Studies and Journalism from NOVA FCSH. He is the author of several major investigative reports and several scientific articles published in national and international journals on investigative journalism, reporting, journalism education and community journalism. Author, co-author and organizer of six books, five in the academic field and one about “reportage”. He was distinguished with several journalism awards, including two Gazeta awards (2017, 2014), Mário Mesquita (SPA 2022 – career ward), Cáceres Monteiro, AMI, European Parliament. He also received the medal commemorating the 50th anniversary of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, awarded by the Portuguese Parliament. He received two Fundação Gulbenkian’s investigative journalism grants, which allowed him two create two investigative journalism consortia with journalists, journalism students and journalism teachers. Founding member of REC which consists in a network linking the academy and the media. He is the president of the 5th Congress of journalists, which will take place in January 2024. He was a member of the Executive and Organizing Committees of the 4th Congress of Journalists. He is a member of IPI (International Press Institute) since 2022 and had a seat at the General Council of the Journalists Union until 2021.
