Objectives
The course has the following general goals:
- To contribute to a culture of understanding and analyses of the territory;
- To contribute to better Spatial Planning practices;
- To contribute to lifelong learning in a changing context;
- To contribute to coordinated actions in e-learning education in Portugal.
It also has the following specific objectives:
- To provide a solid theoretical basis in spatial planning, based on the Portuguese example
- To provide skills that allow permanent knowledge construction regarding spatial planning;
- To ensure students acquire the theoretical and technical knowledge needed to use Geographic Information Systems in spatial planning;
- To contribute to a culture of understanding and analyses of the territory;
To contribute to coordinated actions in e-learning education in Portugal, namely concerning Spatial Planning and Geographic Information Systems.
Curricular structure
Duration: 4 semesters Credits: 120 ECTS
The course is composed of four semesters. Two are academic and two dedicated to the elaboration of the dissertation or project work, or to the undertaking of a practical work experience with report. Its course structure combines curricular units (UC) of the two key areas of the course in both semesters, providing the application of geographic information technologies for territorial management.
