Nuno Venturinha is Associate Professor with Habilitation and Head of the Department of Philosophy at the NOVA University of Lisbon. He taught as a visiting lecturer at the University of Lisbon and as a visiting professor at the Universities of São Paulo and Valencia. He has also been a visiting researcher at the Universities of Bergen, Cambridge, Helsinki, Innsbruck and Oxford. He serves on the advisory boards of various institutions, journals and series, including the School of Liberal Arts at the University of Wollongong, Nordic Wittgenstein Review and Nordic Wittgenstein Studies, and is co-editor of Wittgenstein-Studien. He is a member of the board of the Portuguese Philosophical Society and President of the Portuguese Society for Analytic Philosophy. His current research focuses on epistemic contextualism, the epistemology of religious belief and Wittgensteinian hinge epistemology. He is the author of Description of Situations: An Essay in Contextualist Epistemology (Springer, 2018) as well as the editor of Wittgenstein After His Nachlass (Palgrave Macmillan, 2010) and The Textual Genesis of Wittgenstein’s Philosophical Investigations (Routledge, 2013). In addition, he has published in journals such as Analysis, British Journal for the History of Philosophy, Journal of Philosophical Research, Logos & Episteme, Phenomenology and the Cognitive Sciences, Philosophia, Philosophical Investigations, Philosophy, The Philosophical Quarterly and Topoi. He is currently editing the Synthese topical collection “The Epistemology of John Greco”.
