The Linguistics Center of Universidade NOVA de Lisboa (CLUNL) is a research unit whose main objectives are to promote research in theoretical and applied linguistics, develop advanced training for researchers and to promote the dissemination of scientific data in the areas of knowledge about nature of language and the functioning of languages and texts.
CLUNL is organized into three Research Groups:
LiFE – Formal and Experimental Linguistics
LLT – Lexicology, Lexicography and Terminology
G&T – Grammar & Text
These groups develop work in specific areas of research.
The work developed since the creation of CLUNL, in 2000, has contributed in a relevant and differentiated way to the studies of linguistics in Portugal in areas as different as acquisition (mother tongue and non-mother tongue), discourse analysis, lexicology and lexicography, text theory and terminology, also evidenced by the works carried out in the domains of lexicon and vocabulary (general and specialty), historical linguistics, morphology, syntax and semantics.
