BeFRAIL Webinar Series – Bones and diseases: contributions and challenges of paleohistopathology for the study of past human conditions

Os webinars BeFRAIL pretendem apresentar e contextualizar o estudo de epidemias e doenças através da investigação de vestígios humanos e dos seus contextos. O projeto BeFRAIL parte de uma abordagem transdisciplinar e holística da fragilidade humana no passado através do estudo de um contexto arqueológico relacionado com a Ordem Terceira de Nossa Senhora do Carmo no Porto, com vestígios de entre 1801 e 1869: anos de cólera e guerra. O ciclo é composto por 7 sessões, sendo a primeira, “A utilização da imagem radiográfica em bioarqueologia e antropologia forense”, no dia 14 de março, às 15h00, hora de Lisboa.”

The BeFRAIL webinar series aims to introduce and contextualise research related to the study of epidemics and diseases through the assessment of human remains and their contexts. The BeFRAIL project aims towards an holistic transdisciplinary approach to human frailty in the past via the assessment of an archaeological site related to the 3rd Order of Our Lady of Carmo in Porto (Portugal), in use between 1801 to 1869: years of cholera and war. The series comprises 7 sessions with the first, ‘The use of radiographic imaging in bioarchaeology and forensic anthropology’, taking place on the March 14th, at 3p.m., Lisbon time.
